The Elbow Joint
MRI is useful in the investigation of pain and stiffness
of the elbow joint. Common conditions affecting the
elbow include lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), medial
epicondylitis (golfer's elbow) and osteoarthritis (wear
and tear). MRI can also show traumatic lesions such
as a biceps or triceps tendon rupture, tear of the collateral
ligaments and bony abnormality such as avascular necrosis.
Loose bodies within the joint can usually be identified.
It is not uncommon for an unsuspected fracture to be revealed
by MRI. |
